Our much loved and wonderful society has been running for 40 years, and to mark this important milestone, on the 10th October 2026 at the Furzebrook Village Hall (2pm – 4.30pm) we will be celebrating with an afternoon of talks, teas and cakes.
On arrival you will be able to indulge yourself with a slice of cake and a refreshing drink. This will be followed by the first of two talks.
As the society was started by Lilian Ladle, who better to give the first talks than our much loved and respected leader herself when she will tell you about some of the highlights of 40 years with the Wareham Archaeology and Local History Society.
We are delighted that Julian Richardshas agreed to give the second talk entitled ‘A Career in Ruins’. Julian needs no introductions.He is well known for his appearances on British television, as a radio presenter, writer, and professional archaeologist with over 30 years’ experience of fieldwork and publication. He has presented six series of Meet the Ancestors and the five-part series Blood of the Vikings on BBC2.
Further details will follow nearer the time. It is anticipated that there will only be a small fee just to cover our costs. As we are expecting this event to very popular and booking may be required.
